The Magic of the North
About the Northern Lights

Situated at 69°North with close to zero light pollution, Havnnes is a premier Northern Lights destination.
The lodge is situated on a hill overlooking the ocean, Havnnes and the Lyngen Alps.
With hardly any disturbing light pollution, Northern Lights can be seen from anywhere around the lodge, even the bedrooms.
But what are the Northern Lights?
Northern lights, also known as "Aurora Borealis", are a natural light display that occurs in the polar regions, caused by interactions between the Earth's magnetic field and charged particles from the sun.
These particles, primarily electrons and protons, collide with gases in the Earth's atmosphere, such as oxygen and nitrogen. This collision causes the gases to release energy in the form of light, creating the stunning, colorful displays we see in the night sky.

The Aurora season in Northern Norway
The Northern Lights are visible in the Lyngen area from September to early April.
While the aurora occurs year-round, the bright light of the Midnight Sun during the summer months and surrounding periods makes it impossible to see them.
The Northern Lights can be seen in several different colors
The colors of the aurora can range from green and yellow to red, purple, and even blue, depending on the type of gas and the altitude of the collision.
The northern lights are most commonly seen in areas close to the Arctic, like northern Norway, and are a breathtaking natural phenomenon that draws visitors from around the world.
