Uløya island: A ski touring paradise

From the doorstep of Lodge Havnnes, you can step into your skis and embark on an unforgettable journey through Uløya’s pristine backcountry terrain. The island offers diverse routes catering to every level of ski touring enthusiast.

The primary ascent begins right at Havnnes and leads to Kjelvågtinden, soaring 1,080 meters above sea level. This rewarding 5–6 hour climb features a well-balanced incline, with the steepest sections remaining below 25 degrees—making it a relatively avalanche-safe and accessible choice.

The descent is nothing short of spectacular, delivering 700 vertical meters of exhilarating skiing. Glide through untouched Arctic landscapes, finishing with a serene run through the forested trails leading back to the lodge.

For those seeking a greater challenge, an alternative route ascends from Uløybukt via Uløytind before descending back to Havnnes. This demanding journey rewards skiers with sweeping, unobstructed views over the Lyngenfjord and an unmatched sense of adventure.
