The Lyngen Peninsula and the surrounding areas to the east offer exceptional ski mountains, with some considering it one of the world's premier ski touring destinations. The mountains boast a range of difficulty levels, from easy slopes to extremely challenging terrain. However, all trips in the area share the common feature of breathtaking views and exhilarating descents from summit to sea.
Uløya offers a variety of routes for hiking enthusiasts. The main route starts from Havnnes and ascends to Kjelvågtinden, reaching an elevation of 1080 meters above sea level. This trek typically takes 5-6 hours to complete, with the steepest section featuring gradients of less than 25 degrees, making it considered avalanche-safe. Upon reaching the summit, hikers are rewarded with a breathtaking descent of 700 meters, offering unparalleled views directly overlooking the Lyngenfjord. An alternative route begins from Uløybukt, ascending via Uløytind and descending back to Havnnes. This alternative route provides a more challenging hiking experience.
